Sharing the tech I use in my business

I love getting to see behind the scenes of how other people run their businesses, and so I thought it might be interesting for you to hear about the different tech I use in my business. As a time management coach, it’s also nice to see how we can leverage technology to save time!

Website

My website is with Squarespace, and I love how user friendly the platform is. I’ve been able to make this website all by myself, and it didn’t take that much time or energy. In addition to the public site, there’s also a members’ area for my signature programme, Project Manage Your Life + Biz.

What I perhaps wasn’t quite so aware of was the carbon footprint of my website, but thanks to Niobe and a recent Instagram post she shared, I’ve been able to check this on websitecarbon.com - sadly my rating is poor. I do offset my carbon footprint with Ecologi, but it will be an aim to improve my rating next year.

Email marketing

My emails are sent out every week to my subscribers using Flodesk (get a 50% discount if you sign-up using this link). Yes, there are free tools that you can use to send out emails to your list, but the creative in me really likes that these emails can be made aesthetically pleasing with their templates. I also use Flodesk for all the opt-in forms for my freebies; essentially all the places that I collect email addresses are a Flodesk form that’s either standalone or embedded into my website.

Graphic design

I love Canva, but it’s very easy to spend hours looking at templates and trying to create eye catching posts. Step in Glasgow-based Julie Christie-Clark who creates fantastic Canva template sets as part of her Designer in your Pocket template club that can be very easily tweaked to your brand colours / fonts etc. Such a massive time saver for small business owners, and worthwhile checking out.

Project management

The project management tool I use is Asana, which I love. I use this for not only organising and managing my business, but my home-life too. It’s like my second brain. I share exactly how I use this tool, as well as all the other spreadsheets and tips and tricks for organising my life + biz in my signature programme, Project Manage Your Life + Biz. Find out more here.

Zapier

This is such a nifty tool, that can integrate hundreds of websites and apps. For instance, I plant a tree in Ecologi for every sale via my Squarespace website shop without having to do anything… it’s Zapier that connects the dots for me! There are lots of tasks you can automate, that can save you time and money.

Distractions

The Screen Zen app is very clever, and can be set to block a variety of apps at different days / times. I’ve found this to be super helpful to improve my focus during the working day. When you do try to get into a blocked app, it forces you to pause and be intentional about your next steps.

I’d love to hear what your top tech is for your business, let me know in the comments.
